The installation on the CEA Paris-Saclay site of a work space collaborative Fablab type around digital prototyping and additive manufacturing allows to develop innovative projects with agility and facilitate sharing knowledge and technical means.
It is an asset for diploma courses and continuing professional services provided by INSTN with an immersive approach to learning : tutored projects focused on additive manufacturing will be offered to the students of “Materials for Energy and Transport” (MET) Master. It is also be used to integrate lessons more specifically focused on additive manufacturing as part of the continuing education programs.
Many equipments are available, such as laser cutter, 3D printers (with fused wire technology or stereolithography), electronic and computer prototyping (3D design and programming). Researchers and students are able to use it, while benefiting from the ecosystem existing specialized units (offices studies, mechanical workshops, electronics laboratories,
additive manufacturing platform).
A preferred research area is to adapt the technologies from makers to the activities of CEA. Using open devices and software (open source), giving access to all parameters, allows you to control the entire manufacturing chain 3D: from raw material to applications. We can also test new ideas, new materials with agility (fast and scalable development).
This Fablab is also open to extra-professional activities supervised by the artistic and cultural association of the CEA.
